A Three Rivers and Hertfordshire County Councillor has been elected to a third local government position in the City of London Corporation.
Councillor Chris Hayward, who is deputy leader of the county council and leader of the Three Rivers Conservative group, won one of three common councilman seats in the Broad Street ward on Thursday (March 21).
Councillor Hayward, who is eligible to stand as he owns a flat in The City, won 82 out of the 455 votes cast.
Speaking before the election, he stressed the position is unpaid and his commitment remains to his "full-time role" as deputy leader of the county council.
He said: "It is not exactly a major time commitment. If it was anything more than one meeting then I wouldn’t do it."
