A political party fighting for the rights of men and boys has announced its intention to stand in Watford in the next General Election.

The Justice for Men & Boys (and the women who love them) party is targeting the town as it is a marginal Conservative seat and it says the party has reneged on pledges over male issues.

The party has attacked the Government for pursuing "anti-male" policies and said it stands for "fighting for men’s human rights, including the rights of fathers".

Mike Buchanan, the party’s leader, said: "Men pay 72 per cent of the income tax paid in the UK, women only 28 per cent. Yet the interests and human rights of men have been ever more relentlessly assaulted by the state for the past 30 plus years, with sometimes catastrophic results for men, women, and children.

"The Conservative-led coalition has reneged on numerous pledges given before the 2010 general election to organisations fighting for men’s human rights, including the rights of fathers to be allowed reasonable access to their children after relationship breakdowns."

Mr Buchanan added: "All the major parties have been institutionally anti-male for many years, and it is for this reason that we formed our party. We’re aiming to put men’s human rights firmly on the political agenda."

At the last election the Conservatives won Watford from Labour with a slender majority of 1,425 votes.
