Around 50 walkers took to Cassiobury Park yesterday to raise funds for people suffering from arthritis in the area.

Amblers of all ages as well as dog-walkers and children on scooters took part in the annual Fit For Life walk in aid of Arthritis Care.

Walkers trekked along two routes - a mile and a half walk around the park and canal or a five mile trek through the woods and Croxley Green.

Jette Hansen, the charity’s publicity officer, said the day had perfect weather for walking.

She said: "It went really well. It was a lovely walk through the park and we saw the beginning of the bluebells coming up.

"It was a lovely day for walking: not too hot and not too sunny".

The event raised around £500 for the local branch of the charity which provides support and care for people with the debilitating condition.

Arthritis Care is currently looking for volunteers and drivers to help in the area. Anyone interested can contact the charity on 0845 650 400.
