Children from a Bedmond school danced and skipped around a Maypole this week to mark May Day.
Yesterday, pupils from each class in Bedmond Village School skipped around the maypole dressed with brightly coloured ribbons, a tradition that dates back beyond medieval times.
May Day was often celebrated by men and women dancing on the village green around a specially-decorated tree called a maypole.
Emma Woolon, headteacher at the school, said: "This is part of our aim to bring back old English traditions.
"The children really enjoyed it and were skipping around the Maypole with big smiles on their faces.
"We will be organising Maypole dancing lessons and making a display board."
