Richard Roberts kept his seat at County Hall in last night’s count with 1558 votes, compared to the 2610 he received at the last election in 2009.

UKIP candidate Chris Wright managed to pull into second place with 785 of the votes.

Votes for the Liberal Democrats plummeted with their candidate Garrick Stevens only receiving 157 of votes, leaving them in last place, compared to the 752 Luc Briand gained in 2009.

The Greens’ Wiebke Carr received 177 votes last night.

Labour candidate Jean Langdon took 325 of the votes compared to the 365 she won at the last election.

The poll turnout in the area was 28.5 per cent, compared to 43.6 per cent in 2009, and six ballots were spoilt during yesterday’s vote.
