Thousands flocked to Oxhey Village Green on Saturday to enjoy the 38th annual village fayre.

Despite the rain, around 3,000 people turned up visit the stalls and take in the entertainment at Oxhey Village Fayre.

Watford Observer:

Caron Brennan, fayre coordinator, said: "Despite the downpours it was so great to see the Oxhey community and those from further afield come along to support the fayre and not let a shower or two dampen their spirits. That is one of the big reasons why Oxhey is such a great place to live."

Highlights of the day included 65 stalls selling a variety of arts and crafts, vintage items, handmade gifts, and various specialist food and drink stalls. Children were encouraged to enjoy the bouncy castle, face painting, and other traditional fayre activities.

The Watford Filmhouse showed films about the village and local area all afternoon. This year the fayre was opened by Watford Borough councillor, Shireena Counter, who also announced the start of the Fun Run, which was organised by Friends of Attenborough Fields.

The yearly event is put on by The Oxhey Village Environment Group.

Ms Brennan added: "It’s quite a big deal in the area, we’re not quite as well known as Kings Langley for example, but I think Oxhey Village is a little haven in Watford."
