Free swimming course for young swimmers at Sir James Altham Pool in South Oxhey
Young swimmers can boost their fitness levels after a South Oxhey pool received Lottery funding for a new eight-week course.
Sir James Altham Pool, in Altham Way, secured the Sportivate funding to run the course for 14 to 25-year-olds.
Sportivate is a Lottery programme that gives 14 to 25-year-olds access to courses in a range of sports.
The pool will run an eight-week national fitness course called Swimfit.
Pool manager, Michael Nestorovic, said: "This is great news for swimmers, who will be able to benefit from the excellent pool side training and online tracking that Swimfit provides. It is a big thumbs up from Sportivate who assess the quality of what we are offering.
"Many Sir James Altham Pool regulars over the age of 25 were feeling left out, but now everyone over 14 can join one of the best pool workouts available nationwide."
Swimfit is a gym style fitness programme in the pool with a qualified instructor, which works on stroke technique, improving fitness, stamina, strength and maintaining health, shape and toning the body.
The sessions last for one hour, but swimmers are able to join or leave as they wish.
