Two serial fundraisers are teaming up once again to take on a gruelling Ironman challenge in Watford.

Best friends Hannah Jones and Olly Thompson are taking part in the events to raise money for a children’s project in the African country of Burundi.

Hannah, 28, and Olly, 44, have so far raised £7,000 for the Gitega Street Children Project over four years as part of their support for the Emerge Poverty Free charity.

This year the pair completed the London Marathon this year, and together they hope to raise a further £3,000 from the Ironman challenge, which involves a 26-mile run around Watford before a 52-mile bike ride at Fitness for Less Gym in The Parade, in November.

Hannah, of Nascot Wood, hopes to complete the bike ride in eight-and-a-half hours.

She said: "We have complete support from our gym and they are promoting it in their newsletters to all members as we are asking for people to join in - not the whole thing - unless they want to, of course.

"We are asking that people donate a minimum of £10 to join in and support us.

"I will be going out to Burundi in September to see how our fundraising has helped so far.

"We already have one safe house for kids we have rescued from the streets and we have secured funding for another, which is very exciting.
