Residents show off their flowers and vegetables at Bushey Horticultural Society’s annual show
Bushey Horticultural Society’s annual show of flowers and vegetables saw more than 400 entries this year.
Saturday’s show, which took place at the Bushey Centre, in High Street, opened to the public at 2pm.
Other attractions included a giant tombola and a raffle, with refreshments also being provided.
With hundreds of entrants this year battling for gold, it was Alex Parker who won top honours in the flower section with a trio of vases of different arrangements. His wife, May, showed the best exhibit in the vegetable classes with her carrot entry.
The four trophies for floral art were shared equally between Pam Rivers, the show secretary, and Patsy Geraghty. Margaret McIntosh scored the highest points in the special section for dahlias, and Ian Brooks in that for fuchsias.
