Police use Facebook to track down owners of stolen jewellery seized from Bushey burglar
Police have re-released images of dozens of pieces of jewellery, seized from a Bushey burglar and his accomplice, in a bid to reunite them with their owners.
John Keenan, 30, from The Larches, and Michael Christopher Murphy, 24, of no fixed abode were arrested on suspicion of possession of criminal property by officers who stopped the vehicle in January last year.
Following the conclusion of the court case Harlow Crown Court on Friday, Murphy was sentenced to 15 months and Keenan is due to be sentenced on September 27.
Officers seized multiple pieces of jewellery following the arrests including watches, bracelets and rings, which are thought to have been stolen from across a wide area.
Detectives said items could have been taken from homes in Hertfordshire, Aylesbury (Bucks), the South East or the Midlands.
In January 2012 Hertfordshire Constabulary released dozens of images under Operation Dyad as part of attempts to identify the rightful owners of a large number of items seized. Following the court case they are undertaking another drive to identify many of the pieces, which remain unclaimed.
Detective Constable Georgina Fenge said: "We would love to be able to reunite these items with their rightful owners and would encourage people who have been the victims of a burglary to take a look at the images and contact us if they believe they can identify anything."
If you believe any of the stolen property belongs to you, please contact DC Fenge via the Herts Police non-emergency number 101.
