Olympic footballer, Kelly Smith, is role model for Queens’ School pupils in Bushey
An Olympic footballer attended a Bushey school’s awards evening last week.
England footballer, Kelly Smith, visited Queens’ School, in Aldenham Road, on Wednesday night as pupils from Year 10 to Year 13 collected their awards.
The honours were given out for a variety of reasons, from excellent academic achievement to service to the school.
Smith addressed the school, giving students, parents and teachers an account of how she came to be one of the country’s most successful female footballers.
Year 13 pupil, Will Blackman, said: "Smith’s personal, in-depth speech will live long in our memories and, as a specialist sports college, she will serve as a role model to many of the talented young sportspeople present."
There were also musical performances from Queens’ students and the headteacher’s report on the past school year.
