Football tournament in aid of disabled ex-servicemen at Powerleague soccer centre, Bushey
A five-a-side football tournament in aid of disabled war veterans will kick off at the Powerleague soccer centre in Aldenham Road, Bushey, on Sunday, October 6.
It is one of a series of heats taking place at 14 Powerleague centres across the UK as teams compete to lift the The Royal Marines Charity Cup.
The tournament is being supported by Patron Capital Partners, a pan European private equity real estate company, to raise money for the Royal Marines Hasler Company; the unit is dedicated to the specific and complex needs of seriously injured and ill Royal Marines who require bespoke programmes to aid their recovery.
The heats will take place throughout October and the final will be held at Powerleague Wembley on Sunday, October 20.
The winning squad will receive a celebratory four-night trip to a top European destination, including hotel, flights and £500 spending money.
Squads of seven can enter now and teams must make a minimum donation of £30, which will go to the Royal Marines Hasler Company.
Throughout the day there will be football coaching and other activities for children, families, spectators and competitors to enjoy. There will also be a DJ and buffet before final prize giving.
Patron’s Managing Director Keith Breslauer said: "This is a charity we are passionate about. We have worked with the Royal Marines Hasler Company for several years, undertaking a number of initiatives including providing work placements and organising fundraising events such as mountain climbs and half-marathons.
"The funds raised from this tournament will go directly to helping those who are injured and disabled as a result of their brave service at war."
