Watford cyclist, Andy Colbourne, gears up for 50-mile biking fund-raiser
A Watford man is set to take part in a 54-mile charity cycle from London to Brighton today.
Andy Colbourne is one of the members of staff from Selco Builders Warehouse that will take part in the bike ride in a push to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Selco has nominated Macmillan as its chosen charity and aims to raise £100,000 by the end of 2013.
In excess of £80,000 has already been raised.
Selco’s south London regional operations manager, Paul Neary, has organised the challenge, with Macmillan Cancer Support close to his heart.
He said: "I lost my father seven years ago and the support the Macmillan nurses offered during the final weeks is something I will always be grateful for and will never forget. To be able to give something back like this is fantastic.
"None of us doing the marathon are serious cyclists, but we are all putting the hours in at the moment to make sure we are fully prepared.
"It’s not a race or anything like that. We just want everyone to start and finish."
