Man arrested on suspicion of arson after elderly woman rescued from Bushey flat fire
A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after an elderly woman was rescued from a flat fire in Bushey.
Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the blaze at the Forest Walk flat at around 12.20am.
Two engines from Watford and one from Garston attended the property and a hose reel was used to extinguish the fire at the front of the flat.
A woman, who is in her 80s, was later taken to Watford General Hospital.
A police spokesman said: "Officers and the fire brigade attended and found a woman in her 80s suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation. She was taken to Watford General Hospital.
"Following enquiries a 31 year old man from Bushey was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life."
The man is currently in police custody.
