Police investigating flat fire in Forest Walk, Bushey
Police move to reassure residents that a "thorough investigation" is underway following a flat fire in Bushey last week.
A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson after an elderly woman was rescued from her burning Forest Walk flat at around 12.20am on Friday.
Police, paramedics and three fire engines attended the property and the woman, who was in her 80s, was later taken to Watford General Hospital.
Detective Inspector for Hertsmere, Jason Keane, said: "Understandably this incident is concerning for local residents, however I’d reassure people that we are conducting a thorough investigation alongside specialist fire investigators from Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
"One man has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been released on police bail with strict conditions not to enter the area where the incident occurred.
"The victim was released from hospital on Friday, having had treatment for smoke inhalation. If you have any concerns, please contact your local Safer Neighbourhood Team Officer via the Herts Police, non-emergency number, 101."
