Bricket Wood couple Max and Elaine Thompson's celebrations for a golden anniversary
A couple from Bricket Wood, Max and Elaine Thompson, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Saturday.
Max, a life-long Bricket Wood resident, used to drive his friends over to St John’s Church in Radlett in his yellow van to join in the social events there.
A regular member of the church near her Radlett home, Elaine was introduced to him by a mutual friend and the relationship developed over time into their wedding at the church.
Max, a brick layer by trade, built the family home in Bricket Wood where they raised their three children, Michele, Ryan and Daniel. They now have six grandchildren, five boys and a girl.
They have both kept very active in retirement. Max has a love of cars, especially Jaguars, and rebuilt his own Jag.
He tends two allotments, keeping the entire family supplied with sufficient food so well that they have dubbed him "Mr Sainsbury".
Elaine meanwhile concentrates her energies on her large family and is a very active member of Stanborough Park Seventh-day Adventist Church in Garston having run the Seniors’ Club and the Mother and Toddler Club at different times.
The family celebrated their special occasion with a meal at The Noke, St Albans, and Max and Elaine are planning to go to Venice followed by a mini cruise on the Mediterranean.
