Families enjoy Beechfield Children’s Centre's fun day in Watford to celebrate end of summer
The buzz of happy families enjoying an end-of-summer Family Fun Day at Beechfield Children’s Centre in Gammons Lane, Watford, filled the air on Saturday.
Mums and dads and nans and grandads all came along with the children to be amazed by Steve the Magician’s tricks, and to join in with making crafty butterflies and fish with WRAP (Watford Recycling Arts Project). Manager Sue Bugden said: "We wanted to provide an event that all the family could come to.
"Mums and children come to the children’s centre activities in the week, but often dads get left out because they’re at work, and they don’t get to see where their children come to play and what they do here."
As well as magic and craft activities, there was face-painting with local make-up artist Nicola Mallet, and outdoor games such as hook a duck and Connect 4, and when appetites had been worked up there were cakes, baked and donated by a host of well-wishers. There was also a raffle supported by a number of local businesses.
Sue said: "We were touched by the generosity of our local business community, and in particular we would like to thank Courtlands Café, Richard’s Hairdressers and Kizz Barbers, and Amie Bone the florist, for their kind support.
"Families enjoyed the afternoon so much that they are asking when the next one is.
"It is something that we will definitely be working on, maybe for Christmas."
