Delay in trial of Michael Brennan accused of murdering Bushey man, Paul Simons
The trial of an Essex man accused of stabbing to death 54-year-old Paul Simons, of Bushey, has been delayed.
Michael Brennan, 22, a cleaner, of The Green, Melbourne, Chelmsford, is charged with murdering Mr Simons on May 4 at an address in Moulsham Street, Chelmsford.
However, at Chelmsford Crown Court today Judge Charles Gratwicke put the trial date, which was scheduled for November 11, back to November 20.
At a hearing in July, Brennan denied murder and pleaded guilty to manslaughter but the Crown Prosecution Service said that the plea was not acceptable and there would have to be a trial.
Brennan, who is remanded in custody, was not present at today's hearing.
