Bushey pub, The King Stag, reopens after refurbishment
A newly refurbished pub in Bushey reopened on Thursday night with a party attended by Watford's elected mayor Dorothy Thornhill.
The King Stag, a family-run gastro pub, in Bournehall Road, has been owned by brothers-in-law Robert Beckley and David Warren since January 2013.
The refurbishment was completed this month, and the pub is now themed in a Victorian industrial style.
David Warren said: "Me and Robert started as best friends 19-years-ago and are now brothers-in-law.
"It is amazing that we have been able to open a pub together.
"We have had three opening nights now, one for our neighbours, one for friends and family and the grand opening last night.
"The response we have had has been great.
"The pub is all finished now as well and looks great, a real London Gastro Pub in Bushey."
Simon Longbottom, managing director of Greene King Pub Partners - the owners of the King Stag, said: "We are immensely proud to have David and Robert at the helm of the new-look King Stag.
"They have a strong ethos in supporting their community with locally-sourced food and drink which is fantastic and I am confident the pub has a great future ahead of it."
