South Oxhey youth scheme receives council cash grant
South Oxhey Youth Centre has received a cash boost to help fund a programme which helps youngsters set career goals, learn new skills and build self-esteem.
The Gosforth Lane centre’s ‘I have a dream’ programme has been given £800 by Hertfordshire County Council.
The programme sees participants interviewing members of the community, such as politicians, teachers and entrepreneurs, and is designed to teach young people how to follow in the footsteps of their role models.
All the interviews are recorded and edited into a podcast, giving the participants a chance to learn useful skills. Upon completion of the project, youngsters receive an AQA award.
The money came from Hertfordshire County Council’s locality grant scheme.
