Watford General Hospital tea bar campaign launched by the League of Friends
A campaign to reopen two tea bars in Watford General Hospital has been launched by a volunteer group.
The hospital’s League of Friends held a meeting on Monday about the tea bars in Outpatients and Sycamore House.
It aims to open the shops as soon as possible following an increase in the number of volunteers prepared to help run them.
The tea bars were closed due to a lack of volunteers, and by the retirement of chairman and treasurer Phil Hopkins.
The league has donated hundreds of thousands of pounds to Watford General Hospital for new equipment and other purposes.
Norman Tyrwhitt, the new chairman of the group, said: "We are delighted that so many new volunteers came to the meeting and showed a willingness to help and try to enable us to re-open the tea facilities.
"We are, however, always on the lookout for more volunteers."
