Watford YMCA merge with Central Herts YMCA will 'make a bigger impact in the county'
The YMCA in Watford & District has merged with Central Herts YMCA after working independently for more than 150 years.
Hertfordshire County Councillor Derek Scudder said: "This is a positive move that brings together two charities which can now offer more than the sum of their parts and make a bigger impact in the county."
Almost 300 homeless people will benefit from better service following the merger, announced this week.
Andrew Newell, chairman and Guy Foxell, CEO of the new YMCA said: "We are always looking for ways to do more and better work for the people who need it and joining together was the next logical step.
"Lots of people will have ideas about innovative things the new organisation can do and we will listen to everyone’s points of view as we shape things for the future."
