Two Blockbuster stores in north Watford and Croxley are set to permanently close after administrators failed to find a buyer for the beleaguered entertainment chain.

Moorfields Corporate Recovery said 13 jobs would be lost with the closure of the stores in St Albans Road, Watford and Watford Road, in Croxley Green.

The news came as the administrators announced that more than 60 stores remaining in the UK would also be shuttered.

Joint administrators Simon Thomas and Nick O’Reilly, said: "The decision to close some stores has not been taken lightly, however the remaining stores remain open for business and we are continuing to market the business for sale. Currently we are offering attractive discounts which are generating additional sales.

"We want to be as open and transparent as possible throughout this process and will hopefully be in a position, within the next seven days, to provide staff and customers with another update very shortly."
