On this day in south west Hertfordshire
A local shopkeeper recently received a consignment of china from a London manufacturer.
It was packed in a crate supplied to the manufacturer by British Railways. After a momentous struggle, the shopkeeper succeeded in opening this superb example of the crate-maker’s art.
Inside he found – full instructions for opening the crate.
