Watford’s MP Mr Raphael Tuck was one of the 369 MPs who on Wednesday voted in the House of Commons against the restoration of the death penalty for terrorist murders.
The attempt to restore capital punishment was defeated by a majority of 152.
Explaining his reasons for voting against the death penalty, Mr Tuck said: “I would be in favour of the death penalty for terrorist or hijacking murders if I could be convinced that it is a deterrent for future cases, but I have not been (so) convinced.
"I am not in favour of it as a means of retribution or revenge.”
