Watford bars to hold fund-raiser terminally ill 8-year-old, Brooke Cornwell

Watford Observer: Watford bars to hold fundraiser terminally ill 8-year-old Watford bars to hold fundraiser terminally ill 8-year-old

Bars and clubs in Watford are coming together to raise funds for terminally ill 8-year-old.

Walkabout, Yates, No.77, Reflex, Molloys and Que Pasa are inviting locals to come and have a drink for Brooke Cornwell.

People who are out in Watford town centre on Saturday, December 14, should tell the bar staff that they would like to buy a drink for Brooke, who suffers from Diamond Blackfan anaemia.

Staff will put the money into a pot where the funds will be donated.
Donation buckets will also be at the door of each venue.

Wow. So basically the bars are trying to drum up business using a little boy's illness?

They're not actually contributing anything at all.

Surely if they actually wanted to help they would donate a certain percentage of takings to the fund? Or match what the kind people of Watford contribute?

Here's a better idea for anyone thinking about going to these bars on Saturday - drink somewhere else and give £10 to the charity directly.

Apologies Brooke, for some reason I hadn't noticed your name. My comment above should presumably refer to a little girl's illness.

The bars were very helpful in organising this event. - Walkabout donated their entire door entry fee - No.77 created a cocktail especially for brooke where 50% of the takings were donated. Que pasa held a raffle. The staff from Walkabout also donated all their tip money for that evening. Message to the poster above 'not a regular' It would be nice for a little positivity in the light of people trying to do something nice.
