Residents in Bushey, Aldenham and Radlett are being asked to save their trees and Christmas cards this year as a special recycling service will be set up to take them.

Hertsmere Borough Council will have Christmas tree shredding available next month and are asking residents not to put Christmas cards in the blue or brown bins.

Instead they can be taken to Marks and Spencer, Morrisons or Sainsbury’s throughout January to be recycled.

Councillor Jean Heywood, Environment Portfolio Holder, said: "Many people are involved in recycling throughout the year and at Christmas time we all have extra waste - around 30% more - so we are trying to make it as easy as possible for people to recycle all those extras.

"So when all the celebrations are over, please spare a little time to recycle all you can."

Christmas tree shredding will be available between 11am and 12pm noon on: Sunday 5 January at Kemp Place car park, High Street, Bushey, then on Tuesday 7 January at Newberries car park, Watling Street, Radlett.
