Students from Bushey Academy Choir have raised over £2,000 for two local charities as part of Watford4Watford, Keep it Local.

The idea behind the event is that the community of Watford supports two charities at two activities throughout December.

Students from the academy braved the cold weather last Thursday to raise money for Herts Inclusive Theatre and Watford Mencap.

Commuters travelling from Bushey Station were encouraged to get into the festive spirit as students from the school sang carols throughout the morning rush hour.

Herts Inclusive Theatre’s producer Emma Harrington said: "We are very touched by the children’s and the schools commitment to supporting us.

"It was lovely to see the smiles on people’s faces throughout the morning and many people commented on how the singing had brightened up their morning."

The second event involved collecting at money at all Waftord's main train stations.
