Bluebells, snow drops and yellow rattle are among the plants that will bloom in Leavesden Country Park next spring.

The park ranger, Damien Weller, had some help in planting the bulbs from Bedmond Village Primary & Nursery School, Leavesden Green JMI School, YMCA Woodlands Nursery, Alban Wood Primary School and Tanners Wood JMI School.

Along with bulb planting, all the children involved learned about how bulbs grow, their lifecycle and the various parts of the plants.

Alfie, who is in Year 4 at Bedmond Village Primary & Nursery School, said: "It was a beautiful morning at Leavesden. The sky was a clear blue with wispy white clouds whizzing by. The leaves were changing colour all around the park; maroon, golden yellow, rust and orange. Planting bulbs was fun for all of Year Four. Not only did we plant but we learned lots of facts about growing plants and animals. We can’t wait to see the bulbs grow and see what they look like when they flower next year."
