As far as the town of Watford is concerned, the year which is just closing has been one of substantial progress.
The population has increased steadily, the census showing the number of inhabitants to be nearly 30,000.
Watford has advanced in ten years from a small country town to a position of chief importance in Hertfordshire and promises to become practically a suburb of the Metropolis.
