A two-month old baby had to be freed by firefighters this afternoon after becoming locked in a car.

Watford Fire responded to a call at Watford Arches Retail Park at 12.15pm and found a mother had locked her keys in the car outside Mothercare.

Watch commander Dave Elliott said it took half an hour to free the baby, and after exhausting all other avenues a window had to be broken.

He said the baby returned to the mother uninjured.
