CCTV images have been released of a man and woman after an elderly woman had her bag stolen while she was distracted in Charter Place.
Hertfordshire Constauary said the theft took place in the shopping centre on November 29 between 1.30pm and 2pm.
PC Rebecca Hancock is investigating and said: "I would like to speak to the man and woman pictured as they may have witnessed the incident or they may be able to provide information that will assist the investigation.
"I would also like to remind people to keep their purses and wallets in a safe place whilst out shopping and be aware of the people around you. Please ensure you pass on this advice to any elderly relatives or friends you may have."
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Hancock via Hertfordshire Constabulary non-emergency number 101 citing crime reference number C1/13/5402. Alternatively call Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
