An unemployed man from Watford won £55,000 and Christmas toys when he called into Who Wants to Be a Millionaire last night.

Joseph Maguire, who was randomly selected from callers into the itv show, had to answer one question to win the money.

The special Christmas episode featured celebrity contestants such as Sir Alex Ferguson, Rebecca Adlington and Eamonn Holmes.

At the end of the show, Mr Maguire was faced with the question: "What kind of Christmas is Bing Crosby dreaming of in the classic song?"

Within seconds he chose the correct answer from the options of cosy, white, festive and happy.

Presenter, Chris Tarrant, congratulated the Watford winner, saying: "Joseph, Happy Christmas. It's chaos here in the studio."

After Mr Maguire told the television host he was unemployed, Mr Tarrant said: "So £55,000, plus all those toys for all your kids is pretty handy isn’t it, matey."

Mr Maguire replied: "Yeah very nice, thank you very much."
