Three children from Bushey have presented a cheque for £4,618.20 to Peace Hospice Care.
The cash was raised during a charity golf day at Grim’s Dyke Golf Club and retro vynil disco at the Victoria Arms public house, in Oxhey.
The twin events were organised in memory of the children’s grandmother, Maura Thompson, who died at the hospice a year ago.
Family and friends organised the events back in October in to thank the charity for the "expert and dignified care" Maura enjoyed during her fight against the cancer which claimed her life.
John Thomspon, Maura’s eldest son, said: "We all had a great deal of fun and a lot of help pulling the event together for an important cause that really serves the local community, we’re hoping to make it an annual event."
Maura’s three grandchildren, Caitlin, aged 13, Tom, 12 and Eva, 10, visited the hospice to hand over the cheque last week.
Peace Hospice Care’s community fundraising manager, Gill Crowson, received the cheque and said she was delighted with the donation which help’d support the charity’s annual £4 million self-funded target.
