Inflation offers no concessions to young lovers wanting to get married in a Register Office - the cost of getting "spliced" there has gone up.
A licence, required if less than three clear weeks' notice of the marriage is given, goes up from £8 to £12. The Registrar's attendance fee, which is payable for all but Church of England marriages, is increased from £3 to £5.
The latest increases are expected to bring in an extra £15,000.
