Storms prompt more than 500 emergency reports across Hertfordshire

Watford Observer: Langleybury Road, in Abbots Langley, was badly flooded during last week's storms. Langleybury Road, in Abbots Langley, was badly flooded during last week's storms.

More than 500 emergencies were reported across Hertfordshire during the last week of torrential rain and gale-force winds.

Hertfordshire County Council said since Monday, December 23, the it received 550 reports which were classified as emergencies and 257 non-emergency cases.

Most of the calls were about fallen trees and flooding.

Highways crews have been working on the network throughout the holiday period and remain on standby.

Terry Douris, cabinet member for Highways, said: "The high winds and heavy rain have made it difficult for Hertfordshire residents and road users. I’d like to thank the highways teams and the emergency services for their efforts to keep people safe and the traffic moving.

"Many roads around the county still have a significant amount of water on them because of the ground water levels, and with more rain forecast for next week, motorists should take care and take notice of warning signs in place."

Yes, hear hear! Poor reporting, as usual!
It looks like the road from Chandlers Cross towards Langlebury Chuch/Hunton Bridge x-roads to me, near the M25 link-road bridge- always gets flooded there.

Yes, the photograph does appear to be of Langleybury Lane. If that is so, it is in Abbots Langley: the administrative area of Abbots Langley civil parish council extends to the point where Langleybury Lane reaches the M25 spur.
