A north Watford woman has been ordered to pay back more than £11,000 in benefits she claimed while receiving a private pension.
Rosemary Pym, of St Albans Road, admitted falsely claiming housing and Council Tax benefit between March 2008 and December 2012, despite her husband also receiving two private pensions and two lump sum payments from previous employers.
Mrs Pym had not declared her private pension, which she had to been receiving since 2008, to Watford Borough Council’s Revenues and Benefits section.
The couple were interviewed under caution in December 2012, where Mrs Pym admitted that both her and her husband had been receiving private pensions.
It was calculated that the 65-year-old had been overpaid by £11,400.
She pleaded guilty when she appeared before Watford Magistrates’ Court on December 20 and was fined £335.
She was also ordered to pay £250 in prosecution costs and has to pay back the overpaid benefit in full.
