Brownies braved a night on a church floor to raise money for homeless charities.

In the first of a series of events to celebrate the centenary of the Brownie Guide movement, three packs from Radlett took part in a challenge to spend Thursday night in Christ Church in Watling Street.

Before settling down to sleep, the girls, aged between seven and 10, ate birthday cake, played Victorian parlour games, sang campfire songs and learned about life as a homeless person.

The event is expected to have raised £200 for two local homeless charities, Open Door in St Albans and the Watford New Hope Trust.

Team Rector and Vicar of Radlett Revered Javaid Iqbal said: "Christ Church had been delighted to host the Brownies particularly as the church also supports the two charities for the homeless."
