Fighfighters successfully freed a two-year-girl from a car on Hartspring Lane today after she locked herself in.

A crew from Garston attended the incident in Costco car park at 13.34.

Garston watch commander Andy Newman said the girl had locked the door while her mother was loading her shopping.

He said: "My colleagues and I had to persuade the girl to press the correct button to open to door.

"It took around 15 minutes of persuading and we used the Trauma Ted to gain her attention and show her how to get out.

"I would remind parents not to give their keys to their children while they are loading their car."

Trauma Ted is a teddy that is dressed as a fireman to help children that have been in distressing incidents.
