The New Year heralded a new beginning for a members’ club in Oxhey Village.

Last week was the opening of Oxhey Village Club, formerly Oxhey Conservative Club, in Keyser Hall, Lower Paddock Road. Under its new guise, the club is now open to everyone, irrespective of political beliefs.

Jarmo Kesanto, a trustee of Peace Hospice Care, was on hand to help formally open the club, with a number the club’s committee and members, along with their guests, in attendance.

Following Mr Kesanto’s opening address where he praised the efforts of the club in supporting Peace Hospice Care, and for opening its doors to the wider community, guests were shown around the club.

A raffle was held during the open evening for a quilt made by the club’s acting president Margaret Spruce. This raised £155 for the Peace Hospice in addition to the £1,000 over the course of the previous the year.

Enquiries about membership of the Oxhey Village Club can be made by emailing membership secretary Peter Cooper at petecooper4@ntlworld.com or by telephone on 01923 461 690.
