An appeal lodged by Mr Adam Scott against Hertsmere Borough Council’s decision to refuse the conversion of two semi detached buildings into one detached building in Newlands Avenue, Radlett has been dismissed.

The council said the main issue was the character and appearance of the area and the effect of the net loss of a residential unit on housing need.

The decision was made on Wednesday.

I'll bet if he'd wanted to turn the two houses into four flats it would have been given the nod immediately.

Isn't it amazing how 'the character and appearance of the area' never seems to be a factor to prevent developers converting houses to flats.
