A Watford company that destroys confidential documents is holding a "Shredathon Week" this month to raise money for Peace Hospice Care.

Humphreys Data Management Ltd in Sydney Road is offering to shred private paperwork in return for a suggested donation of £5 per sack to the Watford hospice.

The office is open weekdays from 9am until 4pm and on Saturday 10am until 4pm. The event is open to the public and local businesses from Monday, January 20 and although larger loads can be shredded by appointment.

Last year the event raised more than £2,100 for Peace Hospice Care.

Rachel Fowler, corporate development manager at the charity, said: "We are extremely grateful to Humphreys for running this event again.

"The Shredathon and other support they offer us throughout the year really does help towards the £4 million in voluntary income we need to raise to offer our services free of charge to patients and families across south west Hertfordshire.

"Please do use this excellent opportunity to correctly dispose of your paperwork, have it recycled, and support a local charity".

The oldest section of the company W.H. Humphreys and Son Ltd has traded in Watford for the past 95 years and from its current location for 73 years.
