Santa Claus must have been delayed by storms or war-time petrol rationing or something, but when he finally did ride in – on a bicycle – the children guests of the Watford Police Department cheered him as lustily as if he had been on time.
More than 100 children were guests, and they ranged in age from a tiny girl just six months old to children of 14.
Many were sons and daughters of members of the Force who have joined the Fighting Services.
