Homeless people in Dacorum will benefit from a new hostel that is on target to be completed and opened next year.
Dacorum Borough Council's new homeless hostel in Redbourn Road, Hemel Hempstead, is estimated to open in March 2015 and will be used by homeless people in Bovingdon and Kings Langley.
Preparation work started on the site, known as The Elms, in October and contractors have been working over the winter to prepare the site for the piling and concrete frame which will be erected in February 2014.
Councillor Margaret Griffiths, portfolio holder for housing, said: "We are delighted that the hostel is going so well. It will house some of the most vulnerable members of the local community in a state of the art building, providing a whole range of high quality services to its residents."
The tender to find a managing agent to operate and manage the hostel and its occupants will be issued in January 2014. A management agreement should be signed by August 2014.
