A hospice that cares for Kings Langley and Abbots Langley residents is looking to recruit up to five new trustees from the local area.

The Hospice of St Francis, in Berkhamsted, provides palliative and end of life care to people suffering from terminal illnesses. As a result of planned retirements, the hospice is looking for five new trustees across its catchment to join its board.

The Board of Trustees currently consists of 12 members from a variety of backgrounds who develop the hospice’s strategy and advise hospice management in meeting agreed objectives.

Charlie Toner, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, commented: "This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to make a major contribution to a well-respected local cause. Our Board would like to hear from anyone with sound current or recent expertise in these areas who might be interested in becoming a Hospice of St Francis trustee.

"The right candidates would play a significant part in developing our services and ensuring our future funding."

The Board of Trustees meets six times a year on a Monday evening, with an annual conference on a Saturday to review strategy and performance. In addition, trustees are asked to serve on Board Committees, which involves attending additional meetings throughout the year. The posts are voluntary.
