A Parliamentary bill that will make it easier to film in Hertfordshire is another step closer to becoming law.

The Filming on Highways Bill was given a third reading in the House of Commons yesterday and was passed without amendment.

The bill will make it easier to close roads in the county for film and TV companies and will allow film companies wanting to close a road to apply for a film notice from the county council, closing the road for 24 hours with a period of 24 hours' notice.

The bill also makes provision for a film order, which will enable a particular stretch of road to be closed for a maximum of six seven-day periods a year.

Hertsmere MP James Clappison said: "I am delighted at the news. It will be a big plus for the Hertfordshire film industry - and will be a boost for filming in Hertsmere."
