Kings Langley’s MP marked Holocaust Memorial Day this week by signing the Holocaust Educational Trust’s Book of Commitment in the House of Commons.

The 69th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, will take place on Monday, January 27.

Mike Penning MP went to the House of Commons to mark the day and said: "I encourage everyone to mark Holocaust Memorial Day on 27th January and remember the victims and survivors of the Holocaust.

"In 2011, I joined an educational visit to the Nazi concentration and death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau and it is an experience I will never forget. The anniversary of the camp’s liberation gives us an annual opportunity to think about the past and to fight against present prejudice and intolerance."

Karen Pollock MBE, Chief Executive of the Holocaust Educational Trust, said: "We are proud that Mike is supporting Holocaust Memorial Day. It is vitally important that we both continue to remember and learn from the appalling events of the Holocaust - as well as ensuring that we continue to challenge anti-semitism and all forms of bigotry."
