Hundreds of colourful balloons floated above Chorleywood Primary School to mark its centenary this week.

The Stag Lane school celebrated its 100-year anniversary on Monday as each pupil released a balloon to mark the special occasion.

A total of 300 biodegradable balloons were let loose in the playground, with a tag attached to each one with the school’s information in the hope that people will call in when they are found.

The school then records how far the balloons have travelled, with the furthest so far being reported in north Bedfordshire.

The balloon release is part of a series of events that will take place this year to mark the centenary.

Headteacher Rebecca Roberts said they are trying to track down ex-pupils and old photographs of the school.
