Sainsbury’s has announced it is planning to expand its supermarket near the Dome roundabout.

The shopping chain is proposing a "modest" extension to the front of its Cow Lane supermarket, which has been open nearly 20 years.

It is hoped the expansion at the front of the shop will create a "better shopping environment and improve customer choice".

There will be an exhibition event in the shop this weekend, where members of the project team will be available to answer any questions between 11am and 4pm.

The chain said the proposals will create around 60 new jobs and offer an expanded online delivery service.

David Lazenby, Sainsbury’s property development, said: "We have been looking at extending this store for some time and have come up with a really positive solution which means more choice and a better experience for our customers."
