Caravan site approved between Langleybury Lane and Old House Lane in Langleybury
Politicians have unanimously agreed that three gipsy caravans can be pitched in Langleybury.
At a planning committee in Three Rivers House last night, district councillors granted permission for three mobile homes to be stationed in land between Langleybury Lane and Old House Lane.
There are already two temporary residential caravans on the site and the proposals sought to add a further mobile home.
Concerns were raised by officers as the land is located within the Green Belt.
However, in reports submitted to the council, officers said: "The general need for pitches in Three Rivers, the lack of identified supply of sites to meet this need or of available alternative sites to meet needs are considered to be very special circumstances which would outweigh the harm to the Green Belt by way of inappropriateness and the actual harm to the openness of the Green Belt as a result of the proposal."
Speaking for the plans, applicant Jimmy Cash, said there are already two caravans on-site, and the third was needed because his family has grown.
He added: "There are very little gipsy sites for us in the district.
"We have made it our home and we don’t get many complaints. We don’t cause a problem and we keep to ourselves.
"I have spent all my money to do this up as best I can for my wife, family and kids."
